TLC Doctor Team
MEET THE FOUNDERS OF TLC
Dr. Mark Persaud
FOUNDER

Dr. Mark Persaud

Doctor of Dental Surgery

Dr. Mark Persaud is a co-founder of Tongue-Tie Laser Center of Atlanta located in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He completed his undergraduate studies in New York City, and graduated from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry.  Aside from practicing general dentistry, his personal family life has taken him down a path that has actually chosen him.

Having two children who suffered from the symptoms of tethered oral tissues (ties), and countless other medical providers who stated simply that they were “colicky” and would “grow out of it”, he and his wife began to seek out alternative solutions.

Attending numerous continuing education courses, and seeing the vast improvements by implementing airway focused practices on his own children, he felt catapulted into a world of medicine he became truly passionate about.

He is a member of the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences (AAMS), and has taken courses with the American Laser Study Club, taught by pioneers in the tongue-tie field. He is also an ambassador of The Breathe Institute (TBI) led by Dr. Zaghi, creator of the “Zaghi Method” (functional frenuloplasty).

Dr. Persaud has dedicated his academic and clinical training to create a center in which multidisciplinary therapies and medicine focus on development throughout a human life, from infancy to adulthood.

Amelia Persaud
FOUNDER

Amelia Persaud

Occupational Therapist (OTR/L), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Director of Therapy

Amelia Persaud, co-founder of Tongue-Tie Laser Center of Atlanta (TLC) received her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) from the New York Institute of Technology. She lives and practices in Atlanta, GA with her two children, and her husband (Dr. Mark Persaud).

After over 10 years of experience as an OT, the challenges she faced with nursing her two children, resulted in a major shift in her career path.  Her and her husband sought out solutions to help with their children, not realizing the very answers were already within their academic realm.

Her first CE that opened her eyes to this field of medicine was with the American Laser Study Club, which helped her realize that not only were children tied, but that she was too! She had always suffered from chronic neck pain, TMJD, and migraines, which all resolved with her own tongue-tie and lip release.

Through her personal journey, she re-focused her career as an OT to revolve around infant growth and development, TOTs, and airway.

She is a Myofunctional Therapist and a Certified Professional TummyTime!™ Method provider. With her extensive knowledge, she has helped develop TLC’s program alongside Dr. Persaud, which strongly supports pre-and post therapy and optimal timing release.

OUR PASSIONATE CARING TEAM
Caroline Niemeier
TEAM MEMBER

Caroline Niemeier

Pediatric Speech and Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP), Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS)

Caroline has always had a passion for working with infants and toddlers. She received her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia, and her Masters degree from Georgia State University. She started her career in outpatient pediatrics doing feeding therapy, and her passion for feeding has grown after both of her children were born with ties.

When Caroline’s son was born with tethered oral tissues it lead to a difficult breastfeeding journey from the start. After being told by several professionals that there was nothing else to do, she sought out continuing education in feeding and oral ties. This, with her background in pediatric feeding, was the perfect combination to address the ways the body is impacted from tongue ties. Her mission is to help families achieve their feeding goals with their infants and toddlers without the stress and troubles she had herself.

Caroline is excited to be part of the team at TLC where together with her colleagues she can help families achieve their feeding goals.

Caroline is a Professional TummyTime! Method Provider as well and an IBCLC candidate for 2024.

Amy Siegel
TEAM MEMBER

Amy Siegel

Infant Occupational Therapist (OTR/L)

Amy graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science and a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.

She is passionate about working with infants and children and has over 10 years of experience providing holistic family-centered care. Amy spent several years working with babies to help correct positional and post-surgical skull shape abnormalities.

Further education led to the understanding that tethered oral tissue played a significant role not only in infant skull and body positioning, but in movement, feeding, and baby-parent bonding. Identifying tethered oral tissues as an underlying cause to many developmental challenges has launched a career in an area she is thrilled to be a part of.

Amy is also a Professional TummyTime!™ Method provider.

She is excited to be with the TLC team where she can work with other highly skilled and compassionate professionals to provide the best care possible to babies and families.

Stefani Manchick
TEAM MEMBER

Stefani Manchick

Infant & Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OTD, OTR/L)

Stefani has made it her goal and passion to work with infants since the start of her education in occupational therapy. She received her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from the University of Indianapolis where she completed her Doctoral Capstone research project about NICU follow-up care.

She also has a background in Kinesiology and Nutrition from her undergraduate degree at Miami University. This unique background affords her a knowledge in full body systems and a holistic wellness approach that supports her value in preventative care and early intervention.

She has worked in a variety of pediatric settings including: daycares, ABA clinics, outpatient clinics, and inpatient hospitals. Upon learning about tethered oral tissues, she became very interested in the impact this can have on developmental outcomes and family systems. Stefani is also a a Professional TummyTime!™ Method provider.

Her educational and clinical experience has led her to TLC where she is able to combine her passions, interests and use of a holistic and functional approach to support infants and families in achieving their goals. She is thrilled to be a part of the collaborative team at TLC and provide this much needed support to families.

Jasmine
TEAM MEMBER

Jasmine

Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC)

Jasmine is passionate about improving maternal and infant health outcomes through lactation education. Her journey in lactation began in 2016 with her own struggles to breastfeed her son. Determined to exclusively breastfeed, she was surprised by the challenges she faced and the lack of preparation she had. In some cases, exclusively breastfeeding might not be the right choice, and some kiddos may have difficulty taking a bottle too.  She sought help for her issues and was inspired to become a support person for other mothers experiencing breastfeeding and bottle feeding challenges. She has worked as a peer counselor for public health departments and in 2021 became a Certified Lactation Counselor. She is currently finishing her lactation specific clinical hours to sit for the IBCLC exam.
